Preferred Shorts
The shorts used in surfing (boardshorts) are important for comfort, freedom of movement, and durability. Here are some considerations for choosing surf shorts:
Length:
Shorts that are typically just above or below the knee are preferred.
This length allows for comfortable leg movement and prevents chafing.
Material:
Quick-drying and flexible materials should be chosen.
Polyester and spandex blends are common.
Cut and Stitching:
Flat seams minimize friction and prevent irritation.
A comfortable and flexible waistband enhances comfort.
Velcro and Drawstrings:
Shorts that can be adjusted tightly and securely are preferred.
A combination of Velcro and drawstrings helps prevent the shorts from coming off in the waves.
Pocket:
Pockets with drainage holes can be useful, but they should not be too large and should close securely.
